Greetings From Our Senior Pastor

Choices surround us like a warm blanket on a cold night, comforting us with the knowledge that we can “think outside the bun” if we desire, or have it “your way right away” on virtually every corner. But in a sea of choices I find myself often wondering which one is the right one for me. If I go with the best taste then the result is going to be another negative interaction with my scale, and if I choose the healthy option then I have to spend the rest of the night hungry and wishing they served fries with my plain salad.

We face choices in every area of our life and it therefore seems to make sense that we have choices in our spiritual lives also. I want to thank you for your choice in visiting Southport Baptist Church on the web and making the effort to learn more about who God has called us to be as a body of believers. We are simply imperfect people lead by imperfect leaders doing our very best to follow a perfect and holy God. Southport Baptist has seen many changes over the past 139 years and has grown with the surrounding community. For some our current facilities may seem imposing and ask the question, “if I chose to go inside would they even know I was there?”

Simply, the answer is yes! God’s blessing has necessitated growth in buildings but the heart of Southport is that of a small country church where friends gather to worship God and grow spiritually. Multiple services, each with a unique identity, combine with our open discipleship groups including Sunday school for all ages, Wednesday evening topical and exegetical studies, and home groups meeting in various locations we have grown larger in reach yet smaller in scale. Throughout His ministry Jesus chose to meet people where they were and connect to them in real life situations and this is one of our goals. It is our mission to provide the people of East Brunswick choices and opportunities to grow in Christ and to live their faith with numerous service and outreach opportunities both locally and across the world.
