Southport Baptist Church

We are committed to serving you and our community in the manner that Christ taught us through His Word and life.
It is our ultimate goal that everyone in Southport hear
about the free gift of salvation that Christ offers...

IT’S ALL ABOUT JESUS!

Sunday Services

Sunday School: The focus of the Sunday School hour at Southport Baptist is “Bible Fellowship,” a blend of practical Bible study & small group fellowship. The Bible is the textbook and each student receives a quarterly resource book as a guide for further Bible study.

Contemporary Service: At 8:30 AM on Sunday mornings, our contemporary service in the CMC building offers current worship songs, complimentary breakfast for all who attends, family style worship, and nursery. We strongly encourage the family to worship together. Come join us for worship. Showing Christ's love is our number one focus. And dress comfortably!

11 am Traditional service: Join us every Sunday at 11am for our Celebration Service in the Main Sanctuary where we worship and praise the Lord. This service features our Celebrational Choir with John Bible as the Music Director. Come enjoy specials by soloist, ensembles, and our hand bell choir. Sunday

Evening Fellowship:
Each Sunday evening at 6:30 PM, we come
together for a variety of programs. We feature a mixed worship experience with expositional messages, our monthly missions focus, as well as special concerts.

We alternate meeting between in the historical 1871 prayer chapel
and our Christian Ministry Center (CMC).

Kids Praise Movement will continue in the fall

We are growing in numbers and new activities. Formerly the Children’s
Choir, we are expanding our horizons to include new stuff not only limited to singing. We are currently working on hymns, praise music, and some…. Let’s say “alternate percussion” which will be a surprise for the congregation next time they see the group perform.
Coming soon will be
drama and hopefully a musical in the fall.

The movement has begun, don’t miss out!

Church History

Southport Baptist Church was founded in 1871 as citizens from the local town, guided by John L. Wescott, began to recognize the need for a local place of worship. Many of the original members had attended Bethel Baptist Church which was several miles outside of town.

Over the past 139 years, the church has been through many trying times and many times of great blessing. As we move into the future, Southport Baptist Church is still committed to being a place of worship and fellowship for everyone in the Southport area. We are here to serve, just as our founding members were.
